Unser Auftrag und unsere Ziele:

• Fachliche Fortbildung
  Unsere Jahrestagung verbinden wir jeweils mit einer Fortbildungsveranstaltung. Weiters bieten wir zwei Kurse pro Jahr in Form von Seminaren, Hands-on-Kursen und Psychologieworkshops an.
  

• Standards für den Endoskopiebereich
  Kolleginnen aus Innsbruck und Salzburg haben Standards der diagnostischen und therapeutischen Endoskopischen Eingriffe für den Pflegebereich erstellt. Diese wurden 2003 von Frau Gerlinde Wiesinger (LKH Salzburg – chirurgische Endoskopie) neu überarbeitet und stehen IVEPA-Mitglieder zur Verfügung.
  

• Förderung der Kommunikation
  Wir wollen über unsere Probleme im Arbeitsbereich, Arbeitsbedingungen, fachlihce Themen, die nicht in Kursen vermittelbar sind, sprechen oder beisammensein, plaudern und vielleicht Freunde finden.
  

• Internationale Aktivitäten
  Unsere Auslandsreferentin arbeitete im European Endoscopy Nurses Forum EENF, einem Arbeitskreis von Endoskopieschwestern aus verschiedenen europäischen Ländern, an einem europäischen Berufsbild für Endoskopiepflegepersonal, welches 2002 fertiggestellt und seit Juni 2003 auch in deutscher Version vorhanden ist.
  In der ESGENA Education Working Group EEWG, arbeiten wir an der Erstellung eines Europäischen Curriculums für eine Endoskopie/Gastroenterologie Sonderausbildung mit.

Internationale Mitgliedschaft
IVEPA ist Mitglied der Europäischen Vereinigung des Endoskopiepersonals ESGENA (European Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates) sowie der Weltorganisation des Endoskopiepersonals SIGNEA (Society of Gastroenterological Nurses and Associates)

We try to promote communication between GI nurses. Social programs around our seminars bring colleagues closer together and have initiated friendships and co-operations.

From the beginning we have mainly been engaged in educational matters. We now organise three professional seminars a year (e.g. Hands-on-Courses; What’s new in Endoscopy-Seminars; Paychological Workshops). Each year, the principal meeting is held in combination with the GI Physicians annual convention. IVEPA members are regular and plentiful guests of the annual Endoscopy Postgraduate Course in Vienna.

During the last two years qualified teaching centres have been found and the association helps with arrangements. National guidlines of endoscopy procedures have been established, discussed and published. We are now negotiating an approved training in gastroenterological endoscopy of 6 month length. Instead of an own newsletter we may participate in the future in "Austrian Endoscopy News", the newsletter of the Endoscopy Group of the Austrian Society for Gastroenterology and Hepatology. ivepa has 210 members now and is growing constantly (1996 185 members). There are four groups of members:

• Ordinary members
  they are registered nurses working in GI units: they alone have right to vote
• Extraordinary members
  other people with interest in the activities of the association
• Affiliated members
  corporate members from industry
• Honorary members

The governing board of ivepa consists of eight members and meets three to four times per year.
